The History of Toronto Date Hookups
Toronto is in the midst a of a makeover. New glass and steel high rises are being built in
various neigbourhoods of the Greater Toronto Area all the time. This change in landscape is
bringing new business and new people many areas in town. Toronto has been recognized as the
most diverse city in the world and the city celebrates this fact. No matter where you hail
from, what you like or who you are, you can find familiarity in Toronto.
Toronto is a giant city with so many districts and neighbourhoods and it´s difficult
to discover them all. Most areas downtown do have at least a few Toronto date
spots in them. It can be a bit of scavenger hunt to find these places in areas
of town that primarily cater to different types of institutions. There are certain areas and
districts that are primarily for building a social hub for nightlife. We have complied a
list of some of the more popular districts to check out to meet singles and bring dates.
Queer Street West is Toronto´s secondary gay village and hub. Queer Street West aka
Queer West Village runs west of Trinity Bellwood´s Park and east of Dufferin Street as
far north as Bloor Street. There are approximately 70 gay friendly establishments. The
majority of these places usually have a mixed crowd. This area has a plethora of new and
stylish bars, restaurants, boutiques and cafes.
A hip and youthful neighbourhood, the Annex is a great place to find bookstores, record
shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs and some of Toronto´s best hole in the wall
establishments. The Annex occupies the cities blocks between Korea Town, Yorkville, Casa
Loma and Little Italy. The Annex is adjacent to the University of Toronto downtown campus,
so it´s an obvious option for many students to live in check out. It also borders on
The Royal Ontario and the Bata Show Museum.
Although it´s probably not accurate in actuality, it seems like most of the businesses
on College Street between Spadina and Dovercourt are bars and restaurants. This strip on
College is also the predominate Italian neighbourhood in Toronto. There are authentic
Italian bakeries and sports bars in series with trendy taverns and nightclubs. Many of the
taverns are pretty easy going and casual. Bars like Pour Boy, The Hogtown Pub and Oysters,
and College Street Bar are great for mellow, casual dates.
East of the Don Valley Parkway in Toronto is most associated with The Beaches, and cutesy
residential neighbourhoods. The Danforth is what Bloor Street becomes east of the Prince
Edward Viaduct. The Danforth extends all the way into Scarborough, although when people
refer to The Danforth, they´re typically talking about the section that runs from
Broadview Avenue to Pape Avenue. The Danforth, which is also part of Greektown, offers many
elegant restaurants and bars. Because it lies in more of a family neighbourhood, the average
age of the clientele of these establishments is above 25.
Kensington Market is Toronto´s eclectic, and friendly neighbourhood. Kensington Market
is situated between College and Dundas streets and Little Italy and Chinatown
neighbourhoods. This is a very liberal and community oriented neighbourhood has plenty of
cafes, restaurants and bars. It´s central and fairly convenient to get to from most
places in the downtown area without a car. You can find different places a lunch date or and
cozy bar for a meet up in the evening.
Many of our suggested establishments are also in these neighbourhoods, so you check them out
and your venue of choice from the list of out hand picked venues. Notable mentions for
additional neighbourhoods to look into include: The Junction, Queen Street East, the
Distillery District, Korea Town (especially if you´re into karaoke) and the Church
Street Village. If you reside in the suburbs, many of these locations are very accessible by
public transit or have street parking. Good luck and have fun experiencing the best
Toronto date and hookup spot.
